Interlaken
Again after reaching Interlaken we went to Tourist Information Center to enquire about city and Jungfraujoch (Top of Europe). From there we got the city map and sad news of bad weather in Jungfraujoch. We were also told that Swiss Pass won’t be valid for Jungfraujoch.
When we came out of the station, we met the same Indians again with whom we met in Zurich. We asked them about their travel experience and about Jungfraujoch. They had been to Jungfraujoch that day and it was snowing heavily as per them. They also informed us that they saw Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor on that day in Interlaken itself and had shot a picture of them. Since our bus came by that time we didn’t see the snaps and started for our hotel.
We had our booking in hotel ‘Harder Minerva’ which was in the center of the city. We were hoping desperately that this hotel should be better than that of Luzern as we had to spend 2 nights there. Reception of the hotel looked good, giving a better feeling about the hotel. The hotel even had lift to take us to 2nd floor where our room was. We were happy to see small TV, bed side lamp, a writing table and a cupboard in our room. This room was much better than that of Luzern’s jail.
After settling our stuff there and after getting ready we decided to go for a small walk in city. We were told that the city is not too big and we were in central city location. We checked dining time in hotel and then left to return back at around 9 PM for our dinner. We strolled through the city for a while. There was a big open ground next to main road, near to our hotel. From that open ground we could see alpine range covered with snow at background. The weather at that time was very pleasant and the effect of cold breeze was very relaxing. A small, peaceful city surrounded by lovely mountains gave the impression as if we were sitting in nature’s lap.
We came across a casino, Casino Kursaal on our way. The ground in front of it was very beautiful. Multicolor flowers were planted in shape of circle in front of the casino. To add more beauty to this place there stood a small fountain in the center of the garden where water was jumping as if playing in different-different patterns after every 2-3 minutes. The place was illuminated with the help of multiple lighting arrangements and that made the place look even more attractive. There were again mountains at the back of the place. Now it was our time to go back to hotel for dinner.
We requested the attendant to boil our MTR packets of mix vegetable rice and lemon rice for 10 mins for the dinner. At dinner we were told by the hotel manager that bicycles are available for us in case we want to roam in city by bike and that we need to book the same one day well in advance. So, we thought of taking the advantage of this opportunity and booked the bikes for next to next day. When we asked about drinking water we were told that in Switzerland we could drink anywhere; be it tap water or natural spring or fountain water, everything is clean. The place is blessed with pure drinking water.
After dinner, at room we did little study to prepare ourselves for next day and then slept to relax for the next day.
